BENTON - Children of all ages enjoyed cookies with Santa on Saturday, a new annual event arranged in connection with the re-organization of the Benton parade and Dickens Christmas.
Sponsored by the Marshall County Republican Women’s Group, the event was formerly known as 'Lunch with Santa,' but was modified this year to coincide with the new festivities.
More than 60 children took the opportunity to sit with Santa and offer a wish list before enjoying some fresh baked cookies.
"It was so packed in here," notes club member Pat Cole. "It was wonderful to see so many children enjoying themselves and getting ready for the parade. There was a lot of excitement," she said.
The ladies of the MCRW also sponsored for the fourth year running the Ye’ Old Bread Shoppe, baking fresh baked bread served alongside Parcell’s famous baked loaves of goodness.
Those involved say they are thankful to the community for participating in the activities and add they are already planning to add more to the events next year.
