MCKENZIE, TN - Marshall County High School volleyball alum, Shea Sheppard, just wrapped up a stellar four years as a setter for the Bethel Lady Cats Volleyball team. Shea, a 5'9" senior at Bethel, not only excelled on the volleyball court but in the classroom as well as a three year TranSouth Scholar Athlete currently holding a 3.57 GPA in Business Administration and will graduate in May.She currently holds the record for most assists in a season with 1,270 and has 2,592 career assists in her four year's on the team.
In the TranSouth Conference Championships at Dishman Gym in McKenzie November 5th and 6th, the number one seed Bethel beat the number four seed Mid-Continent 3-0 in their opening game of the tournament with Shea picking up 32 assists in the game.
Playing in the winners bracket, the Lady Cats swept number two seed Freed-Hardeman 3-0 advancing the the championship round where they met the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions again in the finals, the fourth meeting of the season between the two teams with Bethel holding a 3-0 advantage. Bethel beat Freed-Hardeman 3-1 winning the program's first ever conference tournament title. Shea led Bethel in the tournament with 45 assists and helped the team to a 9-0 mark in league play this season.
Shea, along with four other teammates, were named to the All-Conference squad and she was also named a TranSouth All-Scholar Athlete as well as the NAIA All-Scholar team.
