BENTON- Folks at the Marshall County Caring Needline Center in Benton are gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday, now just a little more than a week away.
Each year, Needline volunteers fill hundreds of Thanksgiving baskets, filled with everything needed for a holiday dinner.
Needline Director Becky Cornwell has said of the Thanksgiving effort, “Alot of the basket recipients are elderly, many of which are shut-ins, unable to leave their homes. Unfortunately,” she added, “those are the ones often overlooked during the holidays.”
Cornwell said while the deadline is quickly approaching, they are still in need of stuffing, chicken broth, cranberry sauce, pumpkin, canned milk and turkeys.
She also said with the annual Christmas Lights in the Park show slated to begin the day after Thanksgiving, there are still several openings available for Santa and donation booth volunteers.
Donations can be dropped off at Needline, located at 307 Main Street in Benton. For more information on how you can help or volunteer, please call 527-0024.
