altDRAFFENVILLE - The annual Shop with a Cop Softball fundraising tournament rolled through on Saturday with five teams playing vying for the top spot in the double-elimination tournament.
The five teams, consisting of the Benton Police Department, Calvert City Police Department, County Clerks, Magic Valley Squealers and Kentucky State Police, started head-to-head play at 9 a.m.
Calvert City was the first to fall, followed by the Squealers, leaving the Benton PD to take on the County Clerks.
After emerging victorious, the Clerks took on the reigning 2011 champs, the Kentucky State Police.

After a fiercely fought battle, the State Police once again took top honors at the tournament taking with them the trophy and bragging rights.
Totals are not yet in on how much the tournament raised, but event coordinator Marshall County Detective Dan Melone says all funds will be used to sponsor children selected to participate in this year’s Shop with a Cop program benefitting local children during the Christmas season.
