BENTON - It’s that time again...leaves are beginning to turn and fall from the trees - there is a cool crisp in the air. It’s a great time to enjoy a bowl of chili, maybe even two or three.
And why not enjoy it while helping to support a great cause? You have that opportunity this Friday night, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. as Companion Animal Hospital hosts their annual Chili Cook-Off benefitting the Marshall County Exceptional Center.
If you are not only interested in sampling all of the chili recipes, but have a great recipe of your own, you are encouraged to bring out a pot and enter it into the tasting contest.
The entry fee is $15, with all proceeds going to benefit the Marshall County Exceptional Center. The winner will receive a cash prize this year.
If you don't want to compete, but still want to help, donations of chili financial contributions are greatly appreciated, as well.
Organizers say the event has been so successful over the past two years, there has not been enough chili to go around. The event has also been moved this year from Companion Animal Hospital to the Exceptional Center located at 198 Old Symsonia Rd. in Benton and will feature the musical stylings of the McKendrees. T-shirts will also be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the center.
