MCHS girl's golf team finish 10th at the KHSAA State Championships

Photo KHSAA facebook page.BOWLING GREEN - On a considerably nicer day Wednesday at the KHSAA Girl's State Golf Championship final round at Bowling Green Country Club, the Lady Marshal team paired with players from Green County and Owensboro Catholic teed off on the first tee at 9:48 with Ashley McKenty taking the tee box first, followed by Devon Doss, Charlstyn Beard, Bailey Tyree and Cayce Hendrickson.


Going into Wednesday's round, the girls were tied for sixth place with Elizabethtown, making the 11 team cut after Tuesday's first round. Hendrickson's even par round of 72 put her in second place going into Wednesday behind first place Anna Hack from Calloway County who shot a four under par 68 on Tuesday.
Hendrickson dropped two strokes to -2 after making birdie on the first two holes of play but after six holes, lost three strokes to +2 after two bogeys and a double-bogey, while theAfter starting the day in 2nd place, Casey Hendrickson finished 10th in the state. team was +20 for the round early on keeping them in eighth place.
Through nine holes of play, Hendrickson and Tyree were each +4 for the round and the Lady Marshals slipped from eighth to 10th in team standings.
Calloway held on to second place, 22 strokes behind Sacred Heart who looked poised to win their second straight KHSAA State Golf Championship, while Hack dropped a couple strokes with bogeys on holes one and four but still maintaining her lead at -2.
Hendrickson dropped into a tie for ninth place after 15 holes of play at +8 with the team still holding on to 10th at +119 for the tournament, just two strokes ahead of North Laurel at +121. Hack maintained the lead through the ninth hole at -Calloway's Anna Hack is the 2012 State Champion.1 with Heath's Sydney Trimble making a move to tie for fifth at +7 through 12 holes.
The Lady Marshals held on to 10th place in the KHSAA State Championships with a two day team total of 709, just one stroke behind North Laurel who placed ninth with a tournament total of 708. Hendrickson finished her day at +11 after struggling on the 15th and 16th holes with double bogeys but parred out her round finishing the tournament tied for 10th with rounds of 72-83 (155). Tyree tied for 28th ending her tournament at +19 (163), Beard tied for 68th with +46 (190), Doss tied for 74th at +59 (203) and McKenty tied for 78th at +63 (207).
Medalist honors went to Calloway's Anna Hack who finished the tournament at two over par, four strokes over second place Lydia Gumm of North Hardin. Heath Sydney Trimble took 5th with rounds of 77-73 (150) and Tilghman's Teri Doss tied for 21st with rounds of 80-81 (161).
Calloway County held on to second place, 22 strokes behind first place Sacred Heart with 658 followed by Henry Clay in third with 668. Boyle County made the biggest jump from round one going from a tie for 11th finishing out in eighth place overall after Wednesday's final round.
