AURORA – The 35th Annual Aurora Country Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 5, 6 and 7 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The festival, hosted annually by the Jonathan Aurora Action Committee, announces this year’s parade grand marshal will be Aurora-Ross Fire Chief, Ricky Sirls.
This year’s theme of the parade is a Salute to First Responders. “We are hoping for an awesome turnout of First Responders from Marshall County to be in our parade,” said J.W. Davis, Chairman of the festival planning committee.
“We are honored to have Aurora-Ross Fire Chief Ricky Sirls as our Grand Marshal. He has been a tremendous asset for the fire department and this community in general,” he said.
“This year we also have a new fire house with the Aurora Ross Fire Department's recent grand opening and we hope to have the new station open for the public to come and see for a few hours on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Davis said.
“We also hope to have the PHI Air Medical Helicopter on display, as well as having their flight crew available for a meet and greet in addition to having the Smoke House open for the kids,” Davis said.
The festival is also set to include an antique car show, auction, live music, two major flea markets and vendor areas at the Aurora Visitor Center and the Kenlake Music Barn Stage across the street from the Brass Lantern Restaurant and next to the Hitching Post General Store.
There will be numerous other vendors set up throughout the community, including sorghum and honey sales at the Sorghum House at the Visitor Center. Games, kids’ rides, a craft fair and concessions will also be available.
The Aurora Country Festival is looking for and welcomes anyone, organizations, clubs, schools, churches, and more to participate in the parade and music stage festivities.
