altThe Cajun Archery/Kentucky State Bowfishing Tournament is going to be held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes, hosted out of Auruora at the site of the "Old Barn" beside the Hitching Post, on June 2nd from 8:00pm - 8:00am.

The tournament has a Numbers Category, Big Fish Category as well as a Big Ten Category.  Team registration begins at 5:00 pm with boats leaving out at 8:00 pm.  Boats are due back in by 8:00 am on Sunday, June 3rd.  Winners will be announced after all teams are counted and weighed in.  Over 25 boats, have pre-registered for the event.
Bowfishing is a method of fishing that uses specialized archery equipment to shoot and retrieve fish. Fish are shot with a barbed arrow that is attached with special line to a reel mounted on the bow. Some freshwater species commonly hunted include common carp, grass carp, bighead carp, alligator gar, and paddlefish. In saltwater, rays and sharks are regularly pursued.
For more information contact Emily Martin at 703-1362 or Joe Nichols, Kentucky's Bowfishing Association of America Representative, at 270-832-7382.
