Mrs. Marla Rose English, age 70 of Benton, KY, died Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 at the Ray and Kay Epstein Hospice Center at Mercy Health-Paducah. Mrs. English was born to Herman and Mattie Rose (Baker) Tyler on October 23rd, 1950 in Winchester, KY. She was a graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville, KY and received bachelor and masters degrees from Murray State University. Mrs. English retired after 33 years of service as a professional educator at Gilbertsville and Central Elementary Schools in Marshall County, KY. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dennis English; one daughter, Amber Rose English Bush (Jeff Schroader), Benton, KY; one granddaughter, Alexis English Bush, Benton, KY; one brother, Daryl Tyler, Benton, KY; one sister, Glenna (Barry) Cohn, Houston, TX; and nieces and nephews Rachel Cohn, Rebecca Stepp, Daniel Cohn, Dawn Henderson, Stephanie Brown, Shannon Schroader and Maggie Yopp.
Mrs. English was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mattie Rose (Baker) Tyler.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21st, 2021 in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home, 211 West Fifth Street, Benton, KY. Bro. Joel Frizzell will officiate with interment to follow in Benton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at the funeral home.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the family asks that all persons attending the visitation and funeral service observe appropriate protocols including the wearing of face masks and social distancing.
