Murray State’s 96th Season – Looks Like None Other Before It
The Murray State Racers open the 2020-21 season with a Saturday game (Nov. 28) against the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, in a 7 p.m. tip. Since the Covid-19 pandemic halted all college basketball only days after the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in March, its influence on the landscape of the game will make the 2020-21 season different than any other. Teams and conferences had a pensive preseason period when scheduling was difficult to lock in and will remain so as the season progresses. Originally scheduled to open the season the day before Thanksgiving against Brescia, the Racers now meet KWC for the first time since 1958.

Racers Shuffle Weekend Schedule
On Thanksgiving Day, the Racers made a second adjustment to the 2020-21 schedule. Due to established protocols, the Friday (Nov. 27) game with KWC was cancelled, meaning the Racers and KWC will only play one game instead of two.

The Racers have added a Sunday (Nov. 29) game against the Greenville University Panthers at 4 p.m. at the CFSB Center.

Brown Begins Junior Season With Eye on Joining the 1000 Point Club
MSU’s Tevin Brown enters the season with 960 points and is set to become the 47th member of the MSU 1000-Point Club. Ja Morant, Terrell Miller and Jonathan Stark were the most recent Racers to join this illustrious group in MSU history.

In two seasons, Brown has already made 175 3-pointers, which is ninth in MSU history.

Racers Open 23rd Season In The Bank
The Racers have won 21-of-22 home openers at the CFSB Center with the only loss being a 77-74 thriller to the Houston Cougars in 2014. Against NCAA D-I teams, the Racers have won 6-of-7 home openers.

The Racers also open the 2020-21 season having won 21 in a row on their home court since their last loss, Jan. 24, 2019, against Belmont.

MSU’s 47 game record run between 1996 and 2000 was the longest in the nation when it ended. It’s still the record at Murray State.
