(BENTON, KY) April 17, 2020 – Following 29 years of full time employment with Marshall County Road Department, Superintendent Wendy Greer has officially announced her retirement. Greer was first hired in 1988 as a summer employee. She continued in this role until she was hired as a full time administrative assistant in 1991. In 2016 she was promoted to Road Superintendent where she has served for the last four year.
“Retiring for me is bittersweet. I’m ready to take it easy and do what I want to do, when I want to do it. I am planning on spending more time with family and friends and serving at our local non-profits. I have always had a servant’s heart and enjoyed helping out community. I have worked for the county my whole life so YES, I will miss it and the wonderful people that I work with but I will always cherish my time with the county.” Greer said of her decision to retire.
The retirement will be official on August 1 of this year.
“This is really bittersweet! Wendy retiring is an asset loss, but she is leaving behind a well organized road department foundation that was built under her leadership. Many County Judge Executives would seek her out to hire, Marshall County was blessed to have her.” – Judge Executive Kevin Neal
With 29 years of full time service, Greer has worked for Marshall County longer than any other current employee. She will be sincerely missed by so many and we are grateful for her dedication to serving the people of Marshall County.
