Tyler Stokes has signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill. He will play for Head Coach Ryan Hellenthal in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Tyler finished a great Marshall County career this season with 1,222 points and 777 rebounds. He averaged 14.6 points per game, 9.8 rebounds per game and was nearly 80 percent from the free throw line. He helped lead the Marshals to a 23-11 record, Fourth District title and First Region runner-up.
“He had a great career here at Marshall County”, Head Coach Terry Birdsong said. “Over 1,000 points and almost 800 rebounds and that was with missing 14 games as a sophomore.”
Birdsong said what stands out most about Tyler was his commitment he made coming into his senior season, to get in the best shape and be the best he could possibly be for himself and for the team to win. Doing all the things he needed to do to accomplish this.
Tyler was named to the All-District, All-Region and Paducah Sun’s All-Purchase team his senior season and his 1,222 career points is the 13th best all-time in Marshall County program history.
“He is a great kid, does things the right way, is a good student and leader in our school…he’s the total package”, Birdsong said.
Tyler’s parents are Jeff and Missy Stokes and his brother is Jake.
