Annual slips are all that is affected at Moors Resort and Marina following Sunday’s storm that blew through the area around 5:15 pm. Preliminary reports from the Paducah National Weather Service survey have rated the storm that hit the Moors area at an EF-1 level tornado. Those teams are still assessing the path of the storm. Typical winds for an EF-1 tornado range from 86-110 mph.
According to owners Mark and Kathy Wood, aside from the annual slips, they are open for business as normal in all areas of the resort from the Marina to the restaurant, including gas, boat rental, transient slips, food and supplies.
“We’ll start the actual debris removal probably Thursday”, Mark Wood said. “Once we get all the boats we can out of the way.
Wood reported that there were boat owners on their boats in their slips at the time the storm hit but were able to get below for protection or leave the pier with no injuries reported.
Sunday’s storm was another in a line of storms that have hit the area over the last several days. On Friday, Kentucky Dam Marina suffered extensive damage when the lines to a pier were snapped and the pier blew away from the shore.
