Mr. Jimmy Preston “JP” Harrell, 84, of Calvert City, KY died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY.

Born Thursday, February 22, 1934 in Marshall Co., KY, He retired after 45 years as a Conductor for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, and was a member of Calvert City United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army have served honorably during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his son Jeff Harrell wife Kellie of Calvert City, KY; daughter, Jennifer Harrell of Calvert City, KY; three grandchildren, Morgan Harrell-Ferguson husband Grant, Hailey Harrell and Jordan Harrell; brothers, Johnny Harrell wife Jonell of Calvert City, KY and Mike Harrell of Calvert City, KY.

Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Randall Harrell and Billy Dees Harrell and sister Nita LaRue Harrell Knoth. He was the son of the late Harry King and Gladys Daisey (Dees) Harrell.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in Calvert City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5the St., Benton, KY 42025.
