Little League Basketball Logo v2BENTON, KY (January 28, 2016) — The best of nearly 200 Marshall County 3rd through 5th grade basketball players will take the court for their final game of the season Monday at North Marshall Middle School and Tuesday at Benton Middle School in the inaugural Marshall County Little League All-Star Showcase.

Coaches cast their All-Star votes after each game throughout the regular season, and those players with the most votes in each age group were selected for the All-Star teams. Adding to the excitement, the 5th-grade boys’ All-Star teams will be coached by middle school coaches Eli Lathram from North Marshall and Chase Buchanan from Benton. North Marshall’s Bristyn Prowell and Benton’s Doug Lyles will coach the 4/5th-grade girls’ teams.

Our motto this season was ‘Little things make big things happen,’ and based on the growth we’ve seen in all the players, we’ve accomplished some big things,” said Dave Washburn, Marshall County Little League Inc. president. “We hope the community will come out and watch the games Monday and Tuesday to show their support for the future of Marshall County basketball.”

Admission to the games is $3 for adults & $2 for students. Marshall County Little League players who wear their 2015-2016 Marshall County Little League t-shirt, however, receive free admission as do all the All-Star players and volunteer coaches. Proceeds benefit the North Marshall and Benton middle school basketball programs and Marshall County Little League.

Marshall County Little League cheer squads will also perform and be recognized at each game.

“Marshall County is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteer coaches and parents who support athletics during these important formative years,” Washburn said. “We look forward to capping a great season and building on its success for an even better program next year.”
