DRAFFENVILLE – Months of anticipation and practice has led up to the eagerly awaited Marshall County-Graves County Alumni Football Game put on by Alumni Football USA.
Saturday’s game will take place at Graves County High School with a kick-off time of 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from Marshall County Head Coach Evan Merrick, Chris Gunn at MTG, Jeff Waters at WCBL and R. Barga Insurance or at the gate. Tickets bought in advance will benefit the school’s football program. Money from tickets bought at the gate goes to Alumni Football USA.
Mayfield and Paducah Tilghman alumni squared off last Saturday with Mayfield getting the 38-14 win.
The final score is not the important part of these alumni games, but the chance for former players to suit up and step back onto the field again.
The 44-player Marshall squad spans over 38 years from 1976 to 2014 and in some cases brothers playing together for the first time as well as fathers and sons.
The 2015 Alumni Game is presented by Gilliam Thompson Furniture in association with Westlake Chemical, State Farm-Larry Crouse, 1st Kentucky Bank, MTG Insurance and CFSB.
There will be tailgating and music before the game so come early. Concessions will also be available.
The alumni team is coached by Larry Crouse, Scott Shelton, Scott Pullen, Daniel Murphy and Randy Stafford.
